My Place

This is some candid pictures of my place and birds. This land and house are brand new and I have slowly been working on things like landscaping, sprinklers, grass, walkways etc so you will see the land needs ALOT of work. The first phase of chicken pens are still under construction, they are awaiting their roofing currently, followed by a mister system and then (hopefully) electricity and water. Following that is plans to begin constructing additional pens. Plans for the garage include going through things, clearing more space, organizing then constructing several more round pens that are sturdier as well as a brooding and nursery area for hens, food storage area, an area to contain bedding materials and an area to neatly store other chicken supplies (including a small fridge to keep meds and other supplies at a cool temperature that need such).

Baby Round Pen in Garage- for 4 -8 week old babies that are not yet ready to live outside in the pens.

The square "round pens" in the garage and crates for confinement/brooding moms/single breeding and whatever else is needed. Table on top is nifty for doing chicken stuff.

The square "round pens" in the garage with the straw storage to the left (eventually there will be a wooden platform and sides to contain the straw and keep it off the floor)

The square "round pens" in the garage.3 more are going up on the other side of the garage. The smaller ones will hold about 4 grown silkies and the bigger will easily handle 6.

A long view of the unfinished pens. Early summer '07

Some babies in the nonstandard pen. The partidge was recently moved to the sale pen on account of sparse foot feathering.

This is a Faverolle, she acts like a babysitter in the grow out pen.

This is my splash cochin Fluffikiss, she is a complete love

This is my golden laced cochin Ruffles, she likes to follow me round.

My Wild Pet California Quail
There is a hunt club just down the street and this is a refugee that has decided to stay and is welcome.

He regrettably fell into the goose pool one day and drowned before we knew he was there and could save him, I'll miss him.

This is another refugee from the hunt club who sometimes brings a friend.. Both male pheasants.

He was caught and lived with several female pheasants I'd hatched in a pen for a couple months. One day he got loose and ran away never to come back.
